Winterwood 100% Merino Wool Knitting Yarn
Hand-dyed knitting yarn is available as a 250g skein or 50g balls, each skein makes 5 balls. We dye single colours and multi-coloured yarn, there are naturally occurring variations in hand-dyed yarn that make each skein unique.
8 ply - best knitted on 4mm needles, although 3mm to 5mm will be okay it will just change the tension. Our 8 ply yarn is a standard 8 ply or DK yarn.
16 ply - best knitted on 6mm needles, although 5mm-8mm will still be okay it will just change the tension.
We recommend 16 ply for children who are learning to knit, as their work will grow quickly. Knitted squares can be a dolls blanket or sew squares together and make larger blanket. Both 8 ply and 16 ply are good for weaving or wool stitching crafts.
In our dye kitchen we dye both 8 ply and 16 ply wool, we can dye to order if we don't have what you require in stock (this will possibly take 2-3 weeks, depending on what you order and subject to availability), if you are planning a large project it is best to source all hand dyed wool from the same dye lot as it can be hard to get the same result a second time, although we will do our best.
Our wool is 100% wool and should be washed by hand (or a very gentle cycle if you are never going to hand wash), you may get some leaching of colour in the first wash so wash separately.
